UNDER 11’S SURREY CUP FINAL

After a hard fought campaign, the Year 6 Football Team won the Surrey Cup Final beating Cleves School 2-0 at LSE Sports ground on Tuesday 29th April 2014. In a very close game, the boys put on a solid defensive display and were patient in their build up play however chances were few and far between as an organised Cleves side kept the team at bay for the majority of the first half. As the half drew to a close the team were rewarded for their attacking dominance as Ben Elliot played a fantastic pass through the centre of the Cleves defence and Ethan Etukudo used his pace to beat two defenders before sliding the ball past the onrushing keeper. The second half continued in a similar fashion but our nerves were settled with five minutes to go as Jamal Musiala converted from Ethan Etukudo’s pass from the touchline.

It was a fantastic achievement for the team who became the first Kingston School to win the cup since 1986!

Congratulations to the team: Karl Ginty (GK), Tae Woo Kim, Sung Jae Cho, Nolan Inema, Louis Huttler, Ellis Anderson, Ben Elliot (capt), Jamal Musiala, Ethan Etukudo, Jakub Kozlowski, Ben Blunt and Thomas Gebray.

PREMIER LEAGUE SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT 2014

On Tuesday 22nd May 2014 our football team travelled to Manchester for the Premier League Schools Tournament, which was held at Manchester City FC’s Etihad Stadium.

The team were representing Fulham FC for the third year in a row and were hoping to win the tournament for the third successive year.

The team started the tournament in typical fashion, beating Chelsea 6-0. The boy’s then edged through a tough match against Everton 2-1 before beating Aston Villa and Norwich 3-1 to top their group and book themselves a place in the semi-final. The team drew Liverpool FC in the semis and started the match well, going 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Ethan Etukudo. Liverpool were very well organised and passed the ball well, stretching our defence and getting their reward when they equalised through a great strike from distance. With the clock ticking down, our team attacked the Liverpool defence but could not find a break through. Liverpool countered and managed to score from a throw in to go 2-1 up with a minute to go. They then added a 3rd after another long distance attempt was saved by Jack Hackett only for the Liverpool striker to poke in the rebound and confirm their victory.

The boy’s performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and it was a fantastic achievement for them to reach the semi-finals. Jamal Musiala was awarded the top goal scorer award for the second year in a row, scoring 10 goals in 5 games!

Congratulations to the team: Jack Hackett (GK), Ben Elliot, Tae-Woo Kim, Nolan Inema, Sung Jae-Cho, Jayden Garner, Jamal Musiala and Ethan Etukudo(capt).
