COVID-19 Update

Dear Parents,

I would like to update you on the school’s response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

I am updated regularly from the Government and Department for Education.

The Government have now released an action plan. See link below:

The country is now in the ‘Delay Phase’ which is explained in the document.

You will have heard, I am sure, of cases in the local area. I wish to inform you that no school will close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless advised to do so by Public Health England.

I have carried out a risk assessment and these are some of the more prevalent procedures /actions that are being carried out at Corpus Christi;

1.All staff are informed of the symptoms of possible coronavirus infection, e.g. a cough, difficulty in breathing and high temperature, and are kept up-to-date with national guidance about the signs, symptoms and transmission of coronavirus.

2.Any pupil or member of staff who displays signs of being unwell, such as having a cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, and believes they have been exposed to coronavirus, is immediately advised to phone 111.

3. Parents/Carers are to inform the school immediately if their child is unwell with the symptoms of COVID-19 and to phone 111 for advice.

4. Posters are displayed throughout the school reminding pupils, staff and visitors to wash their hands at regular intervals.

5. Our cleaners carry out daily, thorough cleaning that follows national guidance and is compliant with our Health and Safety Policy.

6. Please check that we have your up-to-date contact details if you have recently moved or changed phone number.

Personal hygiene is the most important way we can tackle COVID-19, especially washing hands more; and the catch it, bin it, kill it strategy for those with coughs and sneezes – also help in delaying the peak of the infection.

The most important thing is that we remain calm and that you know that we are doing everything possible to keep your children safe. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email school on

Please note that if you choose to self-isolate your child without the relevant advice/recommendation their absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

Yours faithfully,

Marie Baxter
