RWInc. Fresh Start

What is RWInc. Fresh Start?

Fresh Start is a catch-up and intervention programme with proven results, for 9 to 13-year-olds still learning to read. It offers a simple but powerful solution to accelerate reading progress in just 25 minutes a day.

Developed by Ruth Miskin, Fresh Start teaches students at their challenge point, so they learn to read accurately and fluently. They will also develop good comprehension, spelling and punctuation skills through targeted activities.

Resources are age-appropriate, matched to students' increasing knowledge of phonics, and finely levelled to accelerate progress.

Why has my child been chosen?

Your child has been chosen because in a recent assessment it was demonstrated that your child would need further support in order to make progress.

Who leads the intervention?

Our teaching assistants have all been highly trained in delivering Read, Write Inc.  The children are closely monitored by the Reading Lead, Miss. Quigley

Will I be kept updated on my child's progress?

Yes.  Assessments take place every 4-6 weeks and if children are not making expected progress, their needs will be discussed by the class teacher.

How can I help my child?

There are lots of ways that you can help your child.  Follow the link to Miss. Quigley's Reading page for support...
