Diagnosis

Dyslexia can only be formally diagnosed through a Diagnostic Assessment carried out by a certified assessor.

 

At school, we can complete a number of assessments which will help to build a picture of your child's difficulties over time.  These assessments may include; 

  • The York Assessment for Reading Comprehension
  • The Helen Arkell Spelling Assessment
  • Read, Write Inc. Phonic Assessment 
  • Curriculum Based Measure for Writing

  • Clicker A web based word processor which supports children's writing. If you would like home access please contact Mrs. McMullen via the school office.
  • Toe by Toe A highly structured phonics based reading manual which can be used by parents as well as school staff - you don't need to be a trained educator to help a child read with Toe By Toe.
