Fairtrade Fortnight

As part of our school value of being conscientious, the children will be learning about the importance of making thoughtful and caring choices that impact others around the world. Fairtrade gives us a powerful opportunity to reflect on how our everyday actions- like the food we buy- can help create a fairer and more just world for everyone.

Each year group will focus on a different Fairtrade product (such as bananas, cocoa, or tea) and explore:

  • What Fairtrade means
  • Why it matters for farmers and workers around the world
  • How we can all make a difference through our everyday choices
  • How we can all make a difference through compassionate and conscientious choices

Take a look at how the children explored Fair trade products and what we can do to support the farmers.

Nursery learnt about fairtrade bananas and baked banana bread using fairtrade products!

Reception also learnt about bananas! They followed a banana from the tree to the shops! They also made banana bread

Year One explored chocolate and used Fair trade ingredients to make cookies!

Year 2 learnt about Fairtrade coffee farmers and workers and made pictures using Fairtrade coffee!

Year 4 learnt about Fairtrade cotton, they made posters and decorated t-shirts supporting the message of giving farmers fair wage!

Year 5 found out all about Fairtrade tea, they decided to make adverts for the TV to promote Fairtrade- here are some snapshots!

Year 6 squeezed the message of Fairtrade by making and selling Lemonade at the market promoting Fairtrade products!

After all our learning about Fairtrade we wanted to host a Fairtrade Market and exhibition. After school, parents and carers were invited to view the amazing work the children had created, learn about Fairtrade through their eyes and supporting Fairtrade by purchasing real Fairtrade products.
