Jubilee Year 2025

A Year of Hope: Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope

Pope Francis has asked us to celebrate this year with deep faith, lively hope and active charity. This means he wants each one of us to celebrate this year by trusting in God, looking forward with hope, and showing love to others through kind and caring actions.

Walking together in Faith and Hope

As a school, we celebrated the Year of the Jubilee altogether by having our very own Pilgrim of Hope. The whole school were put into their houses and were mixed from Reception to Year 6. In the day, the children attended different workshops to support them in their spiritual journey. This included:

Music workshop- to learn lyrics and actions to ‘my lighthouse.’

Emmaus walk- listen to the Emmaus story- this is about recognising Jesus- I wonder if we could recognise Jesus in others? Go on a walk with a stranger-get to know them-ask them questions.

Hope trail- a trail with short prayer stations.

Prayer and reflection workshop- ‘Quiet moment with God’- in groups- how can you bring hope to others?

Art workshop- hope in God’s creation- to reflect on God’s beauty and hope in the natural world. Can you create a piece of work to represent hope with God using chalk and natural resources.

We then walked together to our local Church to come together to celebrate our day. The chaplains led us in a collective worship centred around the Emmaus story. We celebrated by singing the song 'my lighthouse' reminding us that Jesus is the light of the world who can give us hope in stormy times.
