RE Curriciulum
At Corpus, we follow the ‘Come and See’ Religious Education Programme which is followed throughout school from Nursery through to Year 6. This programme was developed to respond to the needs of children today in their faith journey, to enable them to grow in their religious literacy and understanding in a way that is coherent with current educational principles. The programme integrates the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Religious Education Curriculum Directory.
At the heart of the programme is the mystery of God’s self-revelation of love through Jesus Christ. Come and See gives pupils the opportunity to explore the mystery of faith through Scripture and Tradition.
We enrich the programme along with PSHE and RSE which allows our experiences and lessons to be more creative and tailored to our children. It also allows for us to further challenge and question our children on their understandings and opinions. It provides opportunities for celebration, prayer and reflection. Children will be highly engaged in RE lessons through the use of a variety of sources such as religious stories, scripture, religious artwork, songs, drama, music, dance and religious signs and symbols.
Links are made with the children's own experience and with universal experience. It will enable them to explore the beliefs, values and way of life of the Catholic tradition and other faith traditions.
Pupils participate in daily Collective Worship and frequently celebrate Mass, feast days and Holy days. Opportunities are provided for children to experience learning beyond the classroom. The use of visits and visitors in school enhance the RE curriculum.
